Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s pastoral care strategy to support student well-being and academic success.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure a whole-school approach to inclusion and student support.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff to improve pastoral practices and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral interventions and support systems.
- Work closely with external agencies and support services to ensure students receive comprehensive care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies related to student welfare and behavior.
- Represent the school at relevant meetings and conferences, promoting the school’s pastoral care ethos.
- Support the Headteacher in managing the senior leadership team and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally as an Assistant Headteacher or middle leader with a focus on pastoral care.
- Strong knowledge of pastoral care, inclusion, and student support strategies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Experience in managing and developing teams within a school setting.
- Commitment to inclusion, social mobility, and academic excellence.
Preferred
- Experience in a school with a strong focus on inclusion and diversity.
- Familiarity with the Wandle Learning Trust or similar multi-academy trusts.
- Experience in leading initiatives related to student well-being and mental health.
- Strong understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
