The Opportunity:
As a Deputy Theatre Technician, you will play a key role in supporting a wide range of events, from theatrical performances to assemblies and exams. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a thriving theatre programme and work within a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup, operation, and breakdown of technical theatre equipment for events.
- Support the management of sound, lighting, and AV systems during performances and events.
- Contribute to the construction and maintenance of sets and costumes.
- Collaborate with the theatre team to ensure all events run smoothly and safely.
- Provide assistance during rehearsals, performances, and examinations.
- Maintain and store technical equipment in accordance with safety and organisational standards.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and external groups involved in events.
- Stay up to date with new theatre technologies and techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in technical theatre, including sound, lighting, and AV operations.
- Knowledge of set construction and costume management.
- Strong communication and teamworking skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the theatre schedule.
- Commitment to health and safety standards in a school environment.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Understanding of theatre production processes and event management.
- Experience with digital and audio-visual equipment.
- Previous involvement in performing arts or event organisation.
