Summary:

Deputy Theatre Technician required for May 2026. Support a dynamic theatre programme with technical expertise.

The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Theatre Technician, you will play a key role in supporting a wide range of events, from theatrical performances to assemblies and exams. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a thriving theatre programme and work within a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup, operation, and breakdown of technical theatre equipment for events.
  • Support the management of sound, lighting, and AV systems during performances and events.
  • Contribute to the construction and maintenance of sets and costumes.
  • Collaborate with the theatre team to ensure all events run smoothly and safely.
  • Provide assistance during rehearsals, performances, and examinations.
  • Maintain and store technical equipment in accordance with safety and organisational standards.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and external groups involved in events.
  • Stay up to date with new theatre technologies and techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in technical theatre, including sound, lighting, and AV operations.
  • Knowledge of set construction and costume management.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the theatre schedule.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Understanding of theatre production processes and event management.
  • Experience with digital and audio-visual equipment.
  • Previous involvement in performing arts or event organisation.
