The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Headteacher in Curriculum, Assessment & Staff Development, you will lead and inspire a dedicated team to deliver outstanding education. This role is central to shaping curriculum strategies, supporting staff growth, and ensuring student progress across secondary education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model and promote best practice in teaching and learning to support student achievement and progress.
- Provide strategic leadership in curriculum development and assessment across secondary subjects.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver targeted training in English, Maths, and Science, ensuring smooth progression from primary to secondary.
- Coordinate and quality assure trainee teacher placements and professional visitor training.
- Lead the induction, mentoring, and professional development of new staff and Early Career Teachers.
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture in partnership with the safeguarding team.
- Contribute to the school’s Wellbeing Strategy and support staff and student mental health and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a secondary education setting.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and staff training.
- Experience in working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a special school or similar setting.
- Background in staff mentoring or early career teacher development.
- Familiarity with the National Autistic Society standards and practices.
- Experience in leading curriculum innovation and assessment strategies.
