The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Philosophy and Religion department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students and foster a love for the subject.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding academic results and preparing for higher education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school and partner institutions to enhance departmental practice and student outcomes.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with the school’s vision and academic goals.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider school community through shared initiatives and events.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentorship to students where appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and intervention where needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Philosophy and Religion at 16-19 level.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Philosophy and Religion.
  • Experience in middle leadership and a track record of delivering excellent student outcomes.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience with external visits and enrichment activities related to the subject.
  • Familiarity with the Chrysalis East programme or similar initiatives.
  • Experience in working with a range of independent school partners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £39,447 - £62,500 FTE, with additional £2,500 per annum Lead Teacher allowance.
