As an Assistant Headteacher Secondary, you will play a key role in driving the school’s continued improvement and success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of staff and students across the secondary phase of the school.
  • Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteachers in the strategic development and implementation of school policies.
  • Oversee curriculum development, ensuring it meets the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and students, providing guidance and support where needed.
  • Foster a culture of high academic standards, inclusivity, and positive behaviour across the school.
  • Work closely with other senior leaders to ensure the school continues to deliver outstanding educational outcomes.
  • Promote the school’s values and vision through leadership and engagement with students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Support the development of staff through professional learning and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design and delivery in a secondary school context.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff, including mentoring and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in a large, multi-campus school environment.
  • Experience in leading whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections and school improvement planning.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) support strategies.
  • Experience in working with diverse communities and promoting equity and inclusion.
