The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Headteacher – Teaching and Learning, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement in education across the school. You will lead strategic initiatives that enhance teaching quality and support professional development for staff. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and school improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a robust quality assurance cycle to ensure consistent teaching standards across the school.
- Design and deliver a high-quality, evidence-informed professional learning programme for all staff, including Early Career Teachers and mentors.
- Promote effective learning habits and long-term knowledge retention through independent learning, homework, and study skills initiatives.
- Support school improvement and inspection readiness through data-driven decision making and evidence-based practice.
- Foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement aligned with the school’s values.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape and implement strategies that enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to department heads and teaching staff to ensure consistent implementation of best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of professional development initiatives on teaching and learning quality.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, with a strong track record in improving teaching and learning outcomes.
- Outstanding classroom practice and a deep understanding of pedagogy and curriculum development.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Experience in designing and delivering professional development programmes for teachers and support staff.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to the school’s values and ethos, including a focus on student well-being and moral development.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a quality assurance cycle and using evidence to inform school improvement.
- Experience in leading or supporting Early Career Teacher development programmes.
- Familiarity with the Catholic ethos and values in an educational setting.
- Experience in managing school improvement and inspection readiness.
- Experience in promoting independent learning and study skills across the curriculum.
