The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join a dynamic and well-equipped science department. This role involves supporting science teaching across all key stages, ensuring safe and effective learning environments, and maintaining high standards in laboratory and classroom settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain science equipment, materials, and laboratory apparatus for use in lessons.
- Support teachers in delivering the science curriculum, including practical work and experiments.
- Ensure all science laboratories and classrooms are safe, clean, and well-organised.
- Order and manage science supplies in line with the needs of the department.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of science equipment and machinery.
- Collaborate with the science team to support extracurricular science activities and clubs.
- Provide technical support to students and staff during science lessons and practical sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and stock levels.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Science qualification to at least A-level or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a technical or laboratory role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.
Preferred
- Technician or laboratory experience within a school or educational environment.
- Experience with practical science teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
- Experience with ordering and managing laboratory supplies.
