Assistant Principal Behaviour & Alternative Provision – lead behaviour and alternative provision in a high-achieving school.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Principal Behaviour & Alternative Provision, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing a new approach to behaviour management and alternative provision. You will lead with confidence, ensuring a calm and purposeful learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex and challenging student behaviour with professionalism and consistency.
  • Lead and support the use of the isolation room (Reflect) to re-engage and support students effectively.
  • Design and implement a brand-new approach to Alternative Provision, ensuring vulnerable learners receive the support they need.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Model and promote the school’s REACT values: responsibility, excellence, aspiration, commitment, and teamwork.
  • Coach and develop staff to maintain disruption-free learning across the academy.
  • Ensure systems, structures, and curriculum for alternative provision are clearly defined and effectively delivered.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to drive high standards of behaviour and student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in behaviour leadership and management of challenging students.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing behaviour policies and systems.
  • Commitment to the school’s REACT values and culture of excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience in alternative provision or working with vulnerable learners.
  • Background in coaching and developing staff in behaviour management.
  • Experience with Ofsted-inspected schools or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trusts or large educational institutions.
