As an Assistant Subject Leader for Modern Foreign Languages, you will play a key role in leading and supporting a successful department that values language learning and student achievement. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Subject Leader in managing and developing the Modern Foreign Languages department.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in French and German across all key stages.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve student engagement and achievement.
  • Mentor and support trainee teachers and early career teachers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the wider academic and pastoral life of the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Proven ability to teach French to A Level.
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a school setting.
  • Commitment to student achievement and personal development.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching German at Key Stage 3.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and use of technology in education.
  • Experience in a selective or high-achieving school environment.
  • Leadership experience in a subject department.
