The Opportunity:

As a School Librarian, you will be responsible for promoting a love of reading and learning across the school. This role supports the academic curriculum and the wider intellectual and cultural development of students, while ensuring the library is a welcoming and efficient learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and promote a stimulating library collection
  • Manage the library to ensure it operates as a welcoming and efficient learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to encourage independent reading and research skills
  • Support the academic curriculum and wider intellectual and cultural development of students
  • Foster a love of reading and learning across all year groups
  • Promote library resources and services to students, staff, and parents
  • Maintain accurate records and manage library stock effectively
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate library resources into teaching and learning

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in librarianship or a related field
  • Experience in managing a school library or similar educational setting
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to promoting reading and learning

Preferred

  • Experience with digital library systems and resources
  • Knowledge of curriculum support and learning strategies
  • Experience with student engagement and library promotion
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its use in learning
