The Opportunity:

As an Attendance and Welfare Officer and DDSL, you will play a pivotal role in improving student attendance, supporting safeguarding initiatives, and ensuring the wellbeing of pupils. This is a key position that directly impacts student outcomes and the overall success of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor pupil attendance data, implementing strategies to improve attendance rates.
  • Conduct home visits and engage with parents and carers to support attendance and welfare.
  • Support Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) by maintaining accurate records and developing safeguarding plans.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies to support pupil wellbeing.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Develop and implement pastoral care strategies that promote student engagement and success.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families in need of additional assistance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within education.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing attendance data.
  • Commitment to improving student outcomes and attendance rates.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Knowledge of child protection and welfare legislation.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support.
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
