The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Improvement Manager, you will play a key role in driving improvements in pupil attendance across the trust. This is a pivotal role that supports schools to reduce persistent absence and ensure students are in school, on time, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse attendance data to identify trends and barriers to attendance.
  • Implement trust-wide attendance policies and strategies tailored to individual school contexts.
  • Deliver high-quality interventions, including preventative and early-help support for pupils and families.
  • Provide coaching and training to school-based attendance teams to enhance practice.
  • Support schools with statutory processes such as penalty notices and education supervision orders.
  • Build strong relationships with families and external partners to address barriers to attendance.
  • Promote the link between attendance, attainment, and student wellbeing across the trust.
  • Work closely with school leaders and safeguarding teams to ensure consistent, compliant attendance practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong track record in improving attendance and reducing persistent and severe absence.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence to lead and influence school leaders and teams.
  • A child-centred, solution-focused approach with a solid understanding of statutory attendance frameworks.
  • Flexibility to travel across trust schools and work remotely as required.
  • Full commitment to the school’s vision and values.

Preferred

  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organisation.
  • Experience with attendance interventions and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and statutory processes related to attendance.
