The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher to lead and inspire the school community. This is a leadership position that shapes the educational experience for students with complex needs, ensuring they receive the best possible support and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in delivering strategic vision and leadership across the school.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and ensure they translate into effective and successful practice.
  • Lead and manage a significant area or phase of the school, including raising standards and improving outcomes.
  • Work closely with governors, trustees, or executives to ensure alignment with school goals and values.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities, such as lesson observations and performance management.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the well-being and development of all students.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and deliver a varied and meaningful curriculum.
  • Ensure the school maintains high standards of education and reflects the values of the Aurora Group.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Further professional qualification in a relevant area
  • Experience of teaching in a specialist ASD/SEMH environment
  • Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of turning policy into effective practice
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school
  • Experience of working with and involving school governors/trustees or executives
  • Quality assurance experience (such as lesson observations and performance management)

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership or management roles
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
