Reading Support and Library Manager sought to lead a new Learning Resource Centre and support literacy development.

The Opportunity:

As a Reading Support and Library Manager, you will lead the development of a brand-new Learning Resource Centre, playing a key role in enhancing reading support, literacy, and student achievement across the school. This is an opportunity to inspire a love of reading and create engaging learning spaces that empower young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Learning Resource Centre, ensuring it is a vibrant, future-focused hub for reading, research, and independent learning.
  • Support the English Lead Practitioner in delivering targeted reading interventions to improve pupils’ literacy skills and confidence.
  • Manage library operations, including cataloguing, stock control, and the implementation of engaging literacy initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of reading across the school, working with staff and students to celebrate and value reading.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Learning Resource Centre, identifying opportunities to modernise and enhance services.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, library, or youth-focused setting.
  • Ability to create forward-thinking, engaging learning environments using innovative and collaborative approaches.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards.
  • Willingness to undertake first aid training and support pupil welfare responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with reading interventions and literacy programmes.
  • Knowledge of teenage interests, trends, and culture.
  • Confidence in using technology to enhance learning spaces and resource management.
