The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students are present and engaged in their learning. You will lead on the strategic and operational management of attendance, working closely with students, families, and external agencies to remove barriers to regular attendance and support student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor attendance data, identifying trends and patterns to support targeted interventions
  • Coordinate and implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality across the school
  • Line manage and support the Attendance Admin Support Assistant and Attendance Intervention Officer
  • Liaise with students, parents, and external agencies to address attendance challenges and support student success
  • Ensure all statutory duties relating to attendance are fully met and documented
  • Work closely with school leaders to develop and implement policies that promote regular attendance
  • Provide regular reports and analysis on attendance data to support decision-making
  • Support the wellbeing of students and contribute to raising achievement through improved attendance

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Experience analysing data and producing reports
  • Strong understanding of statutory guidance relating to attendance and safeguarding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks

Preferred

  • Experience with pastoral care and student support
  • Experience working with families and external agencies
  • Experience in managing a small team or line managing staff
  • Experience in developing and implementing attendance improvement strategies
