The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting students, families, and staff to ensure consistent attendance and engagement. This position is essential in removing barriers to learning and promoting a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support school attendance policies and procedures.
  • Manage a caseload of attendance cases, preparing evidence for legal action when required.
  • Track, analyse, and report on attendance data to inform interventions and planning.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team and external agencies to deliver attendance initiatives.
  • Coordinate home visits, including unannounced visits with partner agencies.
  • Support the monitoring and enforcement of attendance parenting orders.
  • Deliver training on attendance regulations and best practice.
  • Conduct meetings and interviews in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Liaise with staff to support learning provision for students with attendance barriers.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in education or community settings.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and make balanced decisions.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and improving student outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or social care settings.
  • Familiarity with attendance-related legislation and policy.
  • Experience in delivering training or professional development.
  • Experience working with external agencies or in multi-agency settings.
