The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting students, families, and staff to ensure consistent attendance and engagement. This position is essential in removing barriers to learning and promoting a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and support school attendance policies and procedures.
- Manage a caseload of attendance cases, preparing evidence for legal action when required.
- Track, analyse, and report on attendance data to inform interventions and planning.
- Work with the Senior Leadership Team and external agencies to deliver attendance initiatives.
- Coordinate home visits, including unannounced visits with partner agencies.
- Support the monitoring and enforcement of attendance parenting orders.
- Deliver training on attendance regulations and best practice.
- Conduct meetings and interviews in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Liaise with staff to support learning provision for students with attendance barriers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in education or community settings.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
- Ability to manage complex cases and make balanced decisions.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Commitment to inclusive practice and improving student outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience in education or social care settings.
- Familiarity with attendance-related legislation and policy.
- Experience in delivering training or professional development.
- Experience working with external agencies or in multi-agency settings.
