The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in driving whole-school attendance strategies and ensuring students attend regularly. This role is essential in supporting students and families to overcome attendance barriers and improve outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily 'Late Gate' patrols and monitor attendance patterns.
- Maintain accurate records in the school’s attendance Management Information System.
- Engage directly with students and parents to address attendance issues and offer support.
- Prepare and present detailed attendance data for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Process referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices and ensure compliance with attendance policies.
- Publicise attendance information through various internal and external channels.
- Support the implementation of whole-school strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a consistent approach to attendance management.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong time management and organisational abilities.
- Proficiency in standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging situations and manage conflict professionally.
- Experience in a school environment or attendance-related role.
- A satisfactory DBS check.
Preferred
- Experience using CMIS or SIMS software.
- Previous experience in attendance management or student support roles.
- Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures in educational settings.
