The Opportunity:
As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students who face challenges in their learning due to behaviour. You will work within the Behaviour Support Team to help manage and de-escalate incidents, ensuring a positive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with challenging behaviour and help them engage with learning.
- Work closely with staff to manage and de-escalate incidents of poor behaviour.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent behavioural issues.
- Provide guidance and support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Collaborate with the Behaviour Support Team to maintain a consistent approach to behaviour management.
- Assist in the delivery of structured support programs for students in the Relocation provision.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions.
- Document and report on student progress and incidents as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in working with students who display challenging behaviour.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
- Experience working with young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues in managing student behaviour.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly within a Behaviour Support Team.
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with additional needs.
- Experience with positive behaviour support frameworks or programmes.
- Flexibility and the ability to work outside of standard hours when required.
