The Opportunity:

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students who face challenges in their learning due to behaviour. You will work within the Behaviour Support Team to help manage and de-escalate incidents, ensuring a positive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with challenging behaviour and help them engage with learning.
  • Work closely with staff to manage and de-escalate incidents of poor behaviour.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent behavioural issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with the Behaviour Support Team to maintain a consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Assist in the delivery of structured support programs for students in the Relocation provision.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions.
  • Document and report on student progress and incidents as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in working with students who display challenging behaviour.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
  • Experience working with young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues in managing student behaviour.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly within a Behaviour Support Team.
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Experience with positive behaviour support frameworks or programmes.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work outside of standard hours when required.
