The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within a dynamic and inclusive school. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with identified needs in classes, small groups, and one-to-one settings.
  • Work closely with the school’s SENDCo and other teaching staff to deliver tailored learning support.
  • Promote the welfare and academic progress of students with a wide range of SEND needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities that meet individual student requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and support provided.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to student support.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive learning environments that encourage student engagement and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant in upper Key Stage 2 or secondary education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to a variety of learning support scenarios.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A willingness to support students with a wide range of SEND needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting with a focus on special educational needs.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching strategies and individual learning plans.
  • Experience with assistive technology or specialist support tools.
  • Previous experience in a large, multi-campus school environment.
