The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will join a dynamic and experienced department that inspires a love of literature and language in students across all key stages. You will have the opportunity to shape the learning journey of highly motivated pupils and contribute to a range of extra-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the Edexcel and OCR specifications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Support the delivery of extra-curricular activities such as debating, playwriting, and theatre clubs.
  • Prepare and assess students effectively, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to enhance the curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Manage and maintain teaching resources, including the use of visualisers, projectors, and computers.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the English department and its leadership structure.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students where appropriate.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree in English or a related subject.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and teaching experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic success.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching at key stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Experience with extra-curricular activities or leadership roles.
  • Experience with the Edexcel or OCR specifications.
  • Experience with ECTs or leadership within a department.
