The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Boarding Assistant to join a dynamic team and support students in their personal and academic development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with young people and contributing to a supportive and inclusive community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students to provide care and support.
  • Ensure the welfare and personal development of students through collaboration with parents, guardians, and agents.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students by adhering to the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
  • Provide first aid and medical assistance for minor illnesses, maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Maintain student files with records of behavior, sanctions, rewards, and medical history.
  • Ensure the smooth running of daily services including laundry, cleaning, maintenance, and catering.
  • Ensure students are awake and on time for lessons, reporting any illness or unauthorized attendance.
  • Support a culture of warmth, community, and support within the boarding environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong pastoral care skills and experience working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • First aid trained and ability to provide medical assistance.
  • Good health record and punctuality.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and as required by the boarding house rota.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a boarding or non-residential environment.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and the National Minimum Standards for Boarding.
  • Experience with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with ISI guidance and educational standards.
