The Opportunity:

A Music Teacher (Drum/Percussion) is sought to deliver high-quality instrumental instruction and help shape a dynamic and innovative music programme. This is a key role in establishing a world-class music department at a new and growing school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach the highest quality individual music lessons to pupils.
  • Promote musical excellence and enjoyment of music by demonstrating instrumental skills.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of all pupils in line with the school’s policy.
  • Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to each student’s needs and progress.
  • Keep detailed records of pupil progress and set weekly practice targets.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of music exam requirements and prepare pupils for ABRSM, Rockschool, or Trinity exams.
  • Communicate pupil progress and concerns to the Head of Music and parents when necessary.
  • Direct ensembles and support music events as requested by the Head of Music.
  • Engage in initiatives to maintain consistency across the music department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Music.
  • Proven experience teaching instrumental lessons to various ages and skill levels.
  • Professional performance experience on drum/percussion.
  • Professional standard in drum/percussion.
  • Ability to teach a wide range of musical genres and styles.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage schedules, lesson plans, and student progress.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other members of the department.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with different teaching methodologies and techniques.
  • Experience in developing and leading music programmes.
