The Opportunity:

A Business and Finance Manager is needed to lead the strategic and operational management of the school’s financial and business services. This role supports the school’s educational priorities and ensures efficient use of resources. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to drive financial excellence and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, purchasing, and expenditure monitoring.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for the Headteacher and Governing Body.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements, and local authority policies.
  • Manage contracts, procurement, and value for money initiatives.
  • Lead and support the Business Leadership Team and school support staff.
  • Contribute to strategic business and financial decision-making.
  • Support the Headteacher in overall school leadership and management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in business and financial management, ideally within education.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage both strategic and operational demands effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience working with Arbor.
  • Background in Catholic education or similar values-based institutions.
