The Opportunity:
As a School Librarian with Literacy Support, you will be responsible for fostering a love of reading and supporting literacy across all year groups. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, with the ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop the school library to ensure it is a vibrant and inclusive space for all students.
- Promote reading and literacy through targeted programs and activities for students of all abilities.
- Support teachers in delivering literacy initiatives and embedding reading into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement strategies that improve student reading outcomes.
- Provide guidance and resources to students and staff to enhance reading skills and confidence.
- Organize and manage library resources, ensuring they are up to date and accessible to all.
- Participate in school events and initiatives that promote a culture of reading and learning.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of literacy programs to ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in library science, education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a library or educational support role, preferably with a focus on literacy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to promoting reading and supporting student learning.
Preferred
- Experience in working with students across a range of abilities, including those with special educational needs.
- Knowledge of current literacy strategies and best practices in education.
- Experience with digital library systems and resources.
- Familiarity with curriculum planning and support for teaching staff.
