The Opportunity:

As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. Your work will support the daily operations of the school and ensure the wellbeing of students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain security and safety by managing routine opening/closing, alarm testing, and emergency responses.
• Carry out general repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical tasks.
• Keep grounds, playgrounds, and allotments clean, safe, and welcoming.
• Support school lettings and extra-curricular activities by liaising with external users and contractors.
• Operate heating and boiler systems to ensure comfortable and safe conditions.
• Monitor cleaning standards and manage deliveries and supplies.
• Respond to emergency situations and resolve urgent maintenance issues independently.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Practical DIY skills in plumbing, joinery, basic electrical, and furniture repair.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH, moving and handling, and hygiene.
• Ability to operate cleaning and small machinery safely.
• Strong time management, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.

Preferred

• Experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
• Flexibility to work across multiple sites within the school federation.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
