The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the academic and personal development of students. This position requires a proactive approach to student welfare, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents. The role is essential in maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with pastoral and administrative needs, ensuring their well-being and academic progress.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and carers.
  • Assist senior staff in promoting the school’s core values and maintaining a positive learning climate.
  • Manage and resolve challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in line with the school’s behaviour and inclusion policies.
  • Collaborate with other pastoral staff to ensure consistent support across the academy.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of pastoral care and support services.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • A commitment to promoting positive behaviour and inclusion.
  • Experience in a school or similar environment is advantageous but not essential.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a pastoral or support role within education.
  • Experience in managing student welfare and behaviour support.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience with administrative support in an educational setting.
