The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs, particularly those with communication and interaction challenges, and help them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. This is a dynamic and impactful role that offers opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals or groups of students to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create engaging and effective learning opportunities.
  • Deliver 1:1 or group targeted interventions tailored to student needs.
  • Communicate student progress in relation to their personal support plans.
  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Work closely with colleagues to promote pupil independence and prepare them for future education and employment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above.
  • Experience of working with students with additional needs, preferably within a secondary school.
  • Knowledge of neurodiverse needs, including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, and how these can be supported.
  • Knowledge of KS2 education/curriculum.
  • Understanding of how students learn and how additional needs might impact this.
  • Ability to adapt and scaffold learning to support additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies which promote good behaviour and discipline.

Preferred

  • Experience in the delivery of SALT, social skills, and/or emotional regulation interventions.
  • Experience working within an inclusive provision or enhanced support pathway.
