The Opportunity:

As a Home Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who are unable to attend school due to SEN or SEMH needs. You will help them access learning both at home and on site, ensuring they continue to make progress and feel supported in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals or groups of students to access the curriculum in the home environment or on school site.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create and deliver learning opportunities tailored to student needs.
  • Deliver 1:1 (home) or group (in school) targeted interventions to support student progress.
  • Communicate student progress in line with their personalised support plans.
  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Support pupil reintegration and return to education on the school site.
  • Promote pupil independence and prepare them for future education and employment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Driving licence and access to a car for conducting home visits.
  • GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
  • Experience of working with students with additional needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge of emotional based school avoidance and strategies to support this.
  • Understanding of the KS3 curriculum and how additional needs can impact learning.
  • Ability to adapt and scaffold learning to support students with additional needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering social skills or emotional regulation interventions.
  • Experience in supporting students with social and emotional needs.
  • Flexibility, innovation, and a passion for education and student success.
