The Opportunity:

As a Design & Technology Technician, you will support the DT curriculum across all specialisms, helping students bring their ideas to life through hands-on projects and innovation. This is a chance to be part of a nationally recognised department that is at the forefront of engineering, fashion, and sustainable design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of the Design & Technology curriculum across all specialisms.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of resources, equipment, and facilities for DT projects.
  • Collaborate with teachers and students on exciting projects such as Greenpower racing, fashion shows, and the UK’s first school-based Test Track.
  • Ensure a safe and well-organised working environment for students and staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to students during practical lessons and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain high standards of work and contribute to the continuous improvement of the DT department.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of STEM events and other school-wide initiatives.
  • Keep detailed records of equipment usage and maintenance needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Design & Technology or a related field.
  • Proven ability to support practical lessons and manage DT equipment and resources.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to working with young people and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of engineering, fashion design, or sustainable technologies.
  • Experience with Greenpower or other STEM-related projects.
  • Familiarity with Kagan techniques or collaborative learning approaches.
  • Experience in using CAD software or other design tools.
