The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Carpentry and Joinery Teacher to join its team on a part-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of skilled trades by delivering high-quality education and inspiring the next generation of carpenters and joiners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons in Carpentry and Joinery to students at various levels.
- Plan and develop teaching resources and learning programmes that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and incorporate relevant skills and knowledge into the curriculum.
- Support students on work experience placements and ensure they meet learning outcomes.
- Participate in professional development and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 3 qualification or relevant NVQ (or equivalent) in Carpentry and/or Joinery.
- Literacy and Numeracy to at least Level 2.
- Level 4 Teaching Qualification: Certificate in Education/PGCE/Bachelor of Education or commitment to achieve Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS) within 3 years of appointment.
- Relevant assessment qualifications – IQA/A1/V1.
- Evidence of current Continuous Professional Development.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or training within the Carpentry and Joinery sector.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with diverse groups of learners.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pro-rata salary based on 0.5 FTE.
