The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Carpentry and Joinery Teacher to join its team on a part-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of skilled trades by delivering high-quality education and inspiring the next generation of carpenters and joiners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and practical lessons in Carpentry and Joinery to students at various levels.
  • Plan and develop teaching resources and learning programmes that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and incorporate relevant skills and knowledge into the curriculum.
  • Support students on work experience placements and ensure they meet learning outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 qualification or relevant NVQ (or equivalent) in Carpentry and/or Joinery.
  • Literacy and Numeracy to at least Level 2.
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification: Certificate in Education/PGCE/Bachelor of Education or commitment to achieve Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS) within 3 years of appointment.
  • Relevant assessment qualifications – IQA/A1/V1.
  • Evidence of current Continuous Professional Development.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or training within the Carpentry and Joinery sector.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of learners.

  • Pro-rata salary based on 0.5 FTE.
