The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head of SEND Support, you will play a vital role in driving the school’s inclusion strategy and ensuring that learners with additional needs receive the support they need to thrive. This is an opportunity to lead and coordinate high-quality learning support services across the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the Learning Support Service to ensure effective staff deployment and compliance with SEND legislation.
- Lead on key areas such as EHCP transition and specialist provision including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support.
- Coordinate and manage Learning Support and High Needs funding to ensure value for money and maximise learner outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maintain effective, inclusive support services.
- Drive continuous improvement and ensure that all learners with additional needs achieve their full potential.
- Develop and support staff within the Learning Support Service to maintain high standards of delivery.
- Ensure alignment with the SEND Code of Practice and Education Inspection Framework.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in SEND support and leadership within a further education setting.
- Strong understanding of EHCP processes, funding, and legislation.
- Experience in managing Learning Support and High Needs funding.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and Education Inspection Framework.
Preferred
- Experience with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support.
- Experience in developing and delivering inclusion strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
