The Opportunity:
As a Casual Cover Supervisor, you will step in to support teaching and learning when teachers are absent. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of students. Your contribution will ensure that learning continues without disruption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise lessons and provide cover for absent teachers
- Allocate, explain, and oversee cover work set by teachers
- Report any issues with the quality or appropriateness of cover work to the Subject Lead
- Offer support to students in completing cover work in class
- Follow in-class behaviour management and referral systems
- Take registers and promptly report any absences
- Liaise with teachers to ensure cover lessons are delivered to a high standard
- Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in line with the school’s values and policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualifications to A Level standard or equivalent
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Relevant experience in successfully supervising groups of children aged 11-16
- Understanding of a secondary school environment
- Knowledge of strategies to support student self-reliance and achievement
Preferred
- Basic knowledge of SEN and other learning barriers
- Experience in delivering or supporting learning activities in a school setting
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
