The Opportunity:

As a Casual Cover Supervisor, you will step in to support teaching and learning when teachers are absent. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, reliable, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of students. Your contribution will ensure that learning continues without disruption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lessons and provide cover for absent teachers
  • Allocate, explain, and oversee cover work set by teachers
  • Report any issues with the quality or appropriateness of cover work to the Subject Lead
  • Offer support to students in completing cover work in class
  • Follow in-class behaviour management and referral systems
  • Take registers and promptly report any absences
  • Liaise with teachers to ensure cover lessons are delivered to a high standard
  • Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in line with the school’s values and policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualifications to A Level standard or equivalent
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Relevant experience in successfully supervising groups of children aged 11-16
  • Understanding of a secondary school environment
  • Knowledge of strategies to support student self-reliance and achievement

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge of SEN and other learning barriers
  • Experience in delivering or supporting learning activities in a school setting
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
