The Opportunity:

A Catering Assistant is needed to support the kitchen team in providing high-quality food service to students and staff. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the school’s standards of cleanliness, food preparation, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food, including baking cakes, making sandwiches, and assembling salads.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment through washing up and general cleaning duties.
  • Set up and manage the deli bar area in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide friendly, polite, and professional service to customers.
  • Follow established procedures and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team and report to the Catering Manager and Head Chef.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional manner.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work systematically.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Basic food preparation and cleaning skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role.
  • Experience with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Flexibility to work term-time only and within the specified hours.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary scale point 7-8 (£26,403 - £26,824 pro rata).
  • Term-time only contract (39 weeks per year).
