The Opportunity:

As a Catering Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering a welcoming and high-quality catering service to students and staff. You will support the team in preparing and serving food, ensuring food hygiene standards are met, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in all dining areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food in accordance with school standards and dietary requirements.
  • Support with cashier duties and manage cash float accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen and dining areas.
  • Assist in the safe storage and handling of food and supplies.
  • Follow all health and safety and food hygiene regulations.
  • Work flexibly across shifts and support the team during peak times.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the catering service and ensure a positive dining experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Friendly, reliable, and committed to excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, Monday to Friday, term time only.
  • Willingness to complete training, including first aid and DBS checks.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role.
  • Experience with food preparation and service in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and special needs in a school environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.
