Summary:

Catering Assistant job opportunity – term time only, 31.5 hours per week.

About the School:

A school dedicated to providing specialist education for students with Vision and Multi-Sensory Impairment, offering a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils aged 2 to 19.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our catering team and contribute to providing healthy, nutritious meals to students and staff. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of food quality and service within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and portion meals according to recipes provided, ensuring consistency and quality
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment in line with food safety standards
  • Assist in the storage, handling, and preparation of food and ingredients
  • Support the catering team in the efficient operation of the kitchen during meal times
  • Learn and develop new skills to progress within the role and the school
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and follow instructions to ensure smooth service
  • Assist with the distribution of meals to students and staff in a timely and efficient manner
  • Comply with all health and safety protocols and contribute to a positive working environment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Flexibility to work term time only, Monday to Thursday 8:00 – 15:00 and Friday 8:00 – 14:00

Preferred

  • Previous experience working within a school kitchen
  • Experience in food preparation or catering
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
