The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students overcome challenges and reach their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalized support, fostering confidence, resilience, and a love of learning in a supportive, values-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with individualized learning needs through tailored interventions and strategies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet diverse student requirements.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and motivation.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support sessions to reinforce learning outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development to enhance support practices.
  • Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment for all students.
  • Work with external agencies and families to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Basic understanding of inclusive education and alternative provision.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or education setting, particularly in alternative provision.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience with behavior management and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic interventions or pastoral care approaches.
