The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and resources to support practical work across the department.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
  • Support the delivery of science lessons by providing practical materials and demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and stock levels.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to enhance the student experience.
  • Promote a culture of safety and best practice among students and colleagues.
  • Assist in the organisation and management of laboratory spaces and storage areas.
  • Provide guidance and support to students during practical sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a chemistry laboratory or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a school.
  • Experience with teaching or supporting practical science lessons.
  • Proactive approach and ability to take initiative in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Passion for science education and a commitment to student success.
