The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting science education across Key Stage 3, 4, and Post-16/A Level. Your work will ensure that students have access to high-quality, well-maintained resources and a safe, stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare materials and equipment for science lessons in compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards.
- Maintain and clean laboratory equipment, reporting any damage or malfunctions.
- Conduct regular safety checks and manage chemical spillages in line with CLEAPSS guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels of consumables, chemicals, and stationery, and order replacements as needed.
- Assist with the production of teaching resources, including word processing, data logging, and spreadsheet use.
- Support practical examinations and in-class demonstrations, ensuring all equipment is ready and safe to use.
- Attend INSET training and undergo regular professional reviews as required.
- Contribute to the school’s safety culture and be trained to assist in emergency situations.
- Occasionally assist with events such as Prospective Parents Evenings and the Science Showcase.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Good qualifications in a relevant science subject.
- Experience in a laboratory or technical role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
- Basic IT skills, including word processing and spreadsheet use.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations and health and safety procedures.
- Experience with administration, stock management, and practical examination preparation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
