Family Engagement Officer role with a focus on supporting families and pupils in a 3-16 all-age inclusive school.

The Opportunity:

As a Family Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in supporting pupils and their families, helping to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes. This is a vital position that directly impacts the well-being and success of students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • Provide professional support to parents/carers and school staff in addressing challenges faced by pupils and their families.
  • Deliver targeted services to support pupils with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Ensure a proactive, solution-focused approach to supporting families and promoting inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with the pastoral and safeguarding team to create a supportive environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Promote the school’s values of inclusion, equality, and parental engagement in all interactions.
  • Support the school in safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people, and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable families and pupils with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Empathetic, resilient, and able to manage sensitive situations professionally.
  • Organised and able to prioritise a varied workload effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equality, and parental engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or education setting.
  • Knowledge of pastoral care and support strategies.
  • Experience with child protection and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
