The Opportunity:

A Chinese-Speaking University Counselor is needed to provide tailored guidance and support to Chinese-speaking students and families. This role is essential in helping students navigate university applications and post-school pathways with confidence and clarity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual university and careers guidance to Chinese-speaking Secondary students and parents.
  • Support students in creating and monitoring Student Development Plans.
  • Assist Sixth Form students with university applications, including research, documentation, and interview preparation.
  • Act as a liaison for Chinese-speaking families, ensuring clear communication and understanding of university options.
  • Offer subject choice guidance in coordination with senior staff.
  • Support the preparation of application materials, such as personal statements and forms.
  • Contribute to university-related workshops, information sessions, and events.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to tracking systems for applications and destinations.
  • Collaborate with pastoral and academic staff to support student wellbeing and readiness for post-school pathways.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree and experience in university counselling or post-secondary guidance.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively in both languages.
  • Experience supporting Secondary or Sixth Form students with university applications and subject choices.
  • Strong understanding of IGCSE and A Level curricula and international university admissions systems.

Preferred

  • Thai language ability and familiarity with the Thai university system.
  • Experience working in an international or British curriculum context.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and culturally responsive practice.
