The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE and Sport, you will lead and develop a dynamic PE and sport programme that aligns with the British curriculum and promotes lifelong physical wellbeing. This is a key leadership role with a significant impact on student engagement, performance, and the overall sporting culture of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for PE and sport across all key stages.
  • Lead, manage, and support the PE department, including staff performance management and professional development.
  • Review and align departmental policies, schemes of work, and assessment practices with the British curriculum.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, facilities, and equipment effectively.
  • Deliver high-quality PE lessons, modelling outstanding teaching practice.
  • Ensure curriculum coverage, progression, and differentiation for all students, including those with EAL and SEN needs.
  • Promote inclusive practice and equal access to PE and sport for all students.
  • Monitor and report on student progress in line with school and curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are upheld in all PE and sporting activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Degree in Physical Education, Sport Science, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching PE within the British curriculum (primary and/or secondary).
  • Proven leadership or coordination experience within a PE or sports department.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and differentiation.

Preferred

  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Experience with international school environments or cross-cultural settings.
  • Experience in managing large-scale sporting events or conferences.
