The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Secondary, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the academic and pastoral development of students across Years 7 to 11. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic, student-centred learning environment, while working alongside a dedicated and collaborative leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate pastoral care systems, ensuring the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of students.
  • Collaborate with Form Tutors, Heads of Department, and Support Services to provide holistic student support.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment strategies across KS3 and IGCSE, using data to drive student outcomes.
  • Support students and families in making informed academic and career pathway choices.
  • Mentor staff and lead professional development initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, performance management, and daily operations within the Secondary School.
  • Deputise for the Head of Secondary and contribute to school-wide improvement planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Fully qualified teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong leadership experience in a UK or British international curriculum setting, such as Head of Department or Year Leader.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and positive behaviour management.
  • Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and data-informed decision making.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, reflective leadership style.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership.
  • Experience in pastoral systems and student support.
  • Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE and A Levels.
