The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head of Secondary, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the academic and pastoral development of students across Years 7 to 11. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic, student-centred learning environment, while working alongside a dedicated and collaborative leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate pastoral care systems, ensuring the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of students.
- Collaborate with Form Tutors, Heads of Department, and Support Services to provide holistic student support.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment strategies across KS3 and IGCSE, using data to drive student outcomes.
- Support students and families in making informed academic and career pathway choices.
- Mentor staff and lead professional development initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
- Oversee recruitment, induction, performance management, and daily operations within the Secondary School.
- Deputise for the Head of Secondary and contribute to school-wide improvement planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Fully qualified teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong leadership experience in a UK or British international curriculum setting, such as Head of Department or Year Leader.
- Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and positive behaviour management.
- Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and data-informed decision making.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, reflective leadership style.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership.
- Experience in pastoral systems and student support.
- Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE and A Levels.
