The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Classical Civilisation Teacher to join its Contemporary and Classical Humanities team as Course Leader. This role offers the chance to shape the future of Classics education and inspire highly motivated students with your subject expertise and innovative teaching methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in Classical Civilisation, ensuring engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Lead the Classics department, including curriculum planning, assessment, and staff development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the academic and pastoral support provided to students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and professional development.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the field of Classics and incorporate new ideas into teaching.
  • Support students in achieving their academic potential and preparing for higher education.
  • Work closely with other subject teams to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded sixth form experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Classical Civilisation.
  • Experience in teaching at the sixth form level or equivalent.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a department effectively.
  • Commitment to student welfare and a supportive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in course leadership or curriculum development.
  • Experience with evidence-based teaching methods and professional development.
  • Familiarity with the Extended Project Qualification or similar programmes.
  • Experience in delivering enrichment activities or extra-curricular programmes.
