The Opportunity:
As a Clerk to Council, you will provide essential administrative and clerking support to the governance of a prestigious UK independent school. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, discreet, and passionate about contributing to the effective oversight of a school renowned for its academic excellence and strong community values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional clerking support to the Council and its committees
- Ensure the smooth operation of meetings, including minute-taking and preparation of agendas
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Council activities and decisions
- Coordinate with senior leadership and external stakeholders to support governance processes
- Support the implementation of policies and procedures in line with the school’s strategic goals
- Assist in the management of confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Liaise with other departments to ensure alignment with the school’s overall mission
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of governance frameworks
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a clerking or administrative role within an educational or governance setting
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in supporting meetings and producing accurate minutes
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational environment
- Familiarity with governance processes and procedures
- Knowledge of educational policies and regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with managing confidential information
