The Opportunity:

As a Performing Arts Technician, you will be responsible for the technical aspects of productions, events and external lettings across the school. This role is essential to ensuring that performances run smoothly and safely, with a focus on lighting, sound, AV and stagecraft. The ideal candidate will be passionate about theatre and live performance, and will contribute to a vibrant and creative school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate lighting, sound, and AV systems for performances and events.
  • Support rehearsals and performances across music, drama, and dance.
  • Ensure all technical equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with Drama, Music and other departments to deliver high-quality productions.
  • Uphold health and safety standards in all technical operations.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of stage sets and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to students and staff during events.
  • Ensure smooth-running of external lettings and school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in technical theatre, including lighting, sound and stage management.
  • Strong understanding of AV and stagecraft.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of digital and audio-visual technologies.
  • Experience with event management and coordination.
  • Passion for theatre and live performance.
