The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Communication Support Tutor to provide tailored support to students with special educational needs in the Hornchurch area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact through education and communication support.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver one-to-one communication support to students with special educational needs (SEN)
Develop and implement individual learning plans tailored to each student’s needs
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
Provide regular progress updates and feedback on student development
Attend training sessions and follow Bright Heart’s safeguarding and tutoring standards
Collaborate with other tutors and education consultants to ensure consistent support
Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities
Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
Excellent spoken and written English
Strong subject knowledge in communication and language development
University qualification or studying towards one and A-levels
Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
2 relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

Experience with the Bright Heart Approach
Experience with students requiring social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support
Familiarity with study techniques and transition support for students
