Functional Literacy and Numeracy Tutor needed in Surbiton with SEN experience.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking experienced Functional Literacy and Numeracy Tutors to work with students in the Surbiton area. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs through a supportive and tailored tutoring approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored Functional Literacy and Numeracy support to students with special educational needs
- Apply the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and academic progress
- Work closely with students to develop individual learning plans (ILPs)
- Communicate regularly with parents and education professionals
- Attend ongoing training and safeguarding workshops
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and sessions
- Provide feedback and support to students in a respectful and encouraging manner
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong subject knowledge in Functional Literacy and Numeracy
- University qualification or studying towards one and A-levels
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (with a check of the children’s barred list)
- 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference
Preferred
- Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred methods
- Previous experience in SEN tuition or teaching
- Familiarity with online and in-person tutoring delivery
- Passion for working with students with special educational needs
