The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to support students in the Kingston area. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students with special educational needs, using a structured and supportive approach to help them reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tuition to students with special educational needs
• Use the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and self-belief in students
• Provide tailored support based on individual learning needs and goals
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and feedback
• Attend training sessions and ongoing professional development opportunities
• Communicate regularly with parents and education consultants
• Follow safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
• Support students in developing essential life and study skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills
• Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
• Right to work in the UK
• 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

• Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
• Passion for teaching and supporting students with learning challenges
• Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred methodologies
• Experience in delivering in-person tutoring in the Kingston area
• Familiarity with study techniques and transition support for students
