The Opportunity:

As a Core Subject Teacher, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed education to young people with SEND and SEMH needs. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners while enjoying flexibility and support from a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person, online, and hybrid Maths, English, or Science tuition tailored to the needs of students with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and PMLD.
  • Plan and deliver trauma-informed, flexible tutoring and mentoring sessions that support student progress and engagement.
  • Complete detailed lesson reports and provide regular feedback on student performance and development.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated SEND Support Team to ensure a consistent and child-centred approach to teaching.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Engage with the tutor community to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.
  • Support students referred by local authorities and schools through individualised, holistic teaching strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 2+ years of teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS).
  • Familiarity with teaching Maths, English, and/or Science.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
  • 2+ professional references.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with trauma-informed teaching practices.
  • Experience in SENDCo, SLD/MLD teaching, or intervention specialist roles.
  • Background in therapeutic or learning support roles such as Educational Therapist or Learning Support Assistant.
  • Experience with teaching young people with complex needs.
