The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide 1-1 tuition to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and SEMH needs. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students while working flexibly and creatively in a supportive and trauma-informed setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person, online, or hybrid tuition in Maths, English, or Science to students with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Deliver trauma-informed and flexible teaching that supports academic, emotional, and developmental growth.
  • Plan and deliver lessons tailored to the individual needs of students across KS1 to KS5.
  • Maintain detailed records and provide regular feedback on student progress.
  • Collaborate with the SEND Support Team and other professionals to ensure holistic support for learners.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being and engagement.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Participate in community and company events to share knowledge and resources.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 2+ years of teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD students.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS).
  • Enhanced DBS check and 2+ professional references.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.
  • Experience teaching Maths, English, or Science.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a trauma-informed and holistic approach.
  • Background in SENDCo, LSA, TA, or Educational Therapist roles.
  • Experience with students with SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD needs.
  • Familiarity with educational psychology or therapeutic support.
